No rounded corners in IE8

Question:

Just trying Universal CSS Navigation Menu for the first time - I've tried two or three of the included styles so far but have noticed IE8 doesn't display the rounded corners - they display in Firefox ok.

Is there something else I need to do or is this normal? http://bit.ly/6MAc5e

SEO Strategy and Your CMS; Are They Working Together?

SEO Strategy and Your CMS; Are They Working Together?

For years now, businesses have understood the importance of search
engines
and how SEO can drive prospects to their websites. But with
websites having a shelf life of one to two years, businesses often perform
redesigns. Along with redesigns come new web development vendors and new Content
Management Systems.

Firefox World?s Most Popular Browser

Firefox World’s Most Popular Browser

Site tracking and analytics tool StatCounter Global Statistics now shows that Firefox 3.5 is the most used browser in the world.

Note this is the version of the browser rather than the browser brand but nevertheless an incredible achievement. The browser surpasses IE7 as the most popular browser, with IE8 close behind thanks to the success of Windows 7.

Bing is not popular enough for Firefox

Bing is not popular enough for Firefox

Asa Dotzler, Mozilla's director of community development, explains why an add-on
is required to add Bing as a search option from within Firefox.
If you download a fresh copy of Firefox, you'll note that the default search
engine is not whatever you already have picked in all your other browsers.
Instead, Mozilla chooses Firefox's default search engine, and the list of search
providers in the accompanying drop down menu, based on their popularity. Thus,
Bing isn't one of the choices.

Mozilla thinks mobile Firefox will kill app stores

Mozilla thinks mobile Firefox will kill app stores

The big problem facing developers today is that each mobile app store is unique.
Apple's App Store requires one SDK, Android, another, and so on and so forth.
Why is there no uniform platform to make developer's lives easier? Why can't
someone just develop a single application and then allow all mobile devices to
use it?

Don?t Use Black for Shadows

Don’t Use Black for Shadows

That is, “don’t use black for shadows over colored backgrounds.” At every step
of my design education I was taught this. For example, when adding a drop shadow
as a layer style in Photoshop, don’t just pick a black or a gray but sample a
color from the background, then dial it back in opacity until it looks good.

Stronger, Better, Faster Design with CSS3

Stronger, Better, Faster Design with CSS3

In this second article we’re going to focus on using those CSS techniques (and a little JavaScript) to create some practical elements and layouts. As before, caveat coder — a lot of the CSS properties we’re going to use have limited support, if any, in IE6/7 and probably 8. Firefox 3.5+ and Safari 4 are your best bet right now to see all the cool stuff going on in CSS right now (Chrome does a pretty good job, too).

Why is valid HTML important to everyone?

Why is valid HTML important to everyone?

The Web works with valid and invalid HTML. So why is valid
HTML important? And how does invalid HTML affect
everyone who uses the Web? Technical standards are the bedrock of innovation and it is a recognized fact
that smaller companies often lead in the creation of innovative technologies.
Standards create a level playing field on which these smaller companies compete
with giants.
